School: Georgia Tech
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Hey everybody! I’m Josh DeVane, one of the 2012 GMTs. I grew up in Peachtree City, GA, just South of Atlanta. I graduated from Georgia Tech May 2012 with my BS in Mechanical Engineering. I took advantage of many opportunities at Tech, but the two I am most proud of are studying abroad (TWICE!!!), and finding my passion for Whitewater kayaking through Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech.
I was fortunate enough to attend Georgia Tech Lorraine, Tech’s satellite campus in Metz, France for 5 months during Spring 2011. After not traveling much while growing up, I caught the bug and had to start exploring. I went to 12 countries during those 5 months, and then signed up for the Georgia Tech Pacific Program in Spring 2012 where we spent 6 weeks each in New Zealand and Australia. If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it!
I started whitewater kayaking through Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech about 2 years ago and fell in love with the sport. I worked my way up to an instructor status and love to take people out and teach them how to roll and surf. My supply rotation is in Fort Collins, CO, so I hope to get in plenty of kayaking while I’m out there.
I’m really excited to start working in the Fort Collins brewery. As a mechanical engineer, fast paced operations and equipment get my blood pumping. I’ll be working in bottling and packaging while there, and I hope to gain a lot of knowledge and hands on experience during the GMT program.
